Agassiz-Harrison Storytime in the Park is set to make its return this summer.
Not many details are available yet, but Storytime organizers have confirmed dates in July and August when Storytime in the Park is scheduled for every Wednesday – July 6, 13, 20, 27 and Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24.
Due to the pandemic, the past couple annual iterations of Storytime in the Park have been drive-thru events in which registered families could drop by to pick up the book of the week, a craft and snack. Each registered guest received a link to a Zoom event where a guest reader would read the book of choice and there would be a demonstration of the day’s craft or activity.
In years past, up to 300 people visited Pioneer Park to listen to a book read aloud by a guest speaker followed by a craft and entertainment courtesy of a guest performer.
Storytime in the Park began in Hope and branched out to Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs not long after the original event. The program is funded through the government on multiple levels as well as local organizations like the Fraser Valley Regional Library and the Agassiz-Harrison Community Services Society.
