Summer heat creates higher water demand, which is forever in a shaky balance with the need to conserve water.
As demands are on the rise, Village of Harrison Hot Springs officials want to remind the public to adhere to municipal water restrictions, which are in effect from June 1 to September 30.
For those living at addresses ending in an even number, lawns may be watered on Tuesday and Saturday. Odd-numbered houses can water on Wednesday and Sunday. Watering times are set between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The use of non-essential water – which constitutes sprinkling lawns, watering gardens and flower beds and washing vehicles and boats – is restricted to these hours.

The water schedule works as part of the village’s Municipal Water Conservation Plan, the most recent version of which was adopted back in April 2018. The policy outlines a number of practices to encourage villagers to walk the delicate line between conservation and satisfying water demands.
These include:
Use a spring-loaded nozzle for watering to better control water flow and usage
Invest in water-conserving shower heads, aerators on bathroom taps and consider installing toilets that are water-conserving certified
Turn off water while shaving, brushing teeth and washing dishes
Only run your dishwasher and washing machine when you have full loads
Any questions can be directed to the village staff at 604-796-2171.
