February 19, 1949 - August 3, 2023
Carol was a no-nonsense person. The importance of making a house a home, compassion for others, any job worth doing is worth doing well and loving what you do or don't do it were of the utmost importance in living one's life the right way and she demonstrated that through her 74 year journey.
She was a fiercely strong-willed person that was often misunderstood as hard, but once you broke through and made it to the inner circle, you were in for life and saw her soft mushy side. As much as she expected from the people around her, she expected and gave the same of herself in abundance. She taught us to be assertive, independent, intolerant of stupidity, but to enjoy and love the people around you, even when they make you furious.
She loved holidays, especially Christmas because she got to decorate and dance like no one was watching. Her passion for baking and cooking is something she passed on to her family and her secrets will be inherited. She was extremely dedicated to her family, friends, writing, beliefs and garden.
She enjoyed many jobs over her lifespan. Waitress in Smithers at the Bulkley Hotel and Royal Hotel in Chilliwack. Nurse at the Chilliwack General Hospital and Valley Haven Care Centre in Chilliwack, Linen Specialist at the Chilliwack General Hospital, kitchen helper at the Canadian Forces Base in Chilliwack and finally running a Chilliwack cleaning service.
All of these jobs allowed her to significantly impact the lives of those she met and share in life lessons.
Sincerest thanks to the wonderful staff of the 2nd floor at Abbotsford Regional Hospital for their personal care and professionalism.
At Carols request there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will take place in Summer of 2024 at the Olynyk family farm in Smithers, BC.
Donations in Carols memory can be made to: BC Cancer Foundation, Chilliwack Cultural
Centre to help aspiring young poets/writers or to the personal charity of your choice would be appreciated.
She will forever be missed but she is pain free now and finally peace will be her journey.
