December 2, 1938 - March 17, 2020
With sad but grateful hearts, we share that Carolina Hester Regehr (Van Osch, nee: Bijleveld) peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord Jesus on March 17, 2020.
Carolina, or Caroline as she was commonly known, was born to Willem and Magdalena Elizabeth Bijleveld on December 2, 1938 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She was the older sister to her two brothers Arend and Coenderd.
She met and later married a family friend, Cornelis (Casey) Van Osch on January 9, 1961 after moving to Toronto, Canada. She gave birth to 4 children, a son Ernie in 1962, a daughter Julie in 1963 (stillborn), a second daughter Vivian in 1965 and a second son Gregory in 1966. In 1968, the family came west to Agassiz BC, where they settled to raise their children and run a jewelry store. Casey passed away in 1985, and she remarried David Regehr of Agassiz in 1986.
Her life was characterized by her loving and caring nature. Having a strong faith in God and Jesus, she was always willing to help others and practice hospitality. She loved the outdoors, gardening, flower arranging, always remembering birthdays and special occasions with a card and note, making her family's birthdays and Christmas' special with thoughtful acts and interesting parties. She loved learning new things, liked working at a dog kennel, studying physiotherapy, re-upholstery, reflexology, the jewelry business with Casey, teaching flower arranging, home care support work and much more. She was frugal and creative. Caroline will be a treasure greatly missed by all those that knew her and came into contact with her.
Caroline was predeceased by her: first husband Casey, daughter Julie, second husband David Regehr, parents Willem and Magdalena, stepfather Willem Poortman, brother Coenderd, stepson Darcy Regehr.
She is survived by: her children: Ernie (Carmen), Vivian, Greg (Angie) Regehr step-children: Ken (Barb), Wayne (Pat), Debbie, Diane (Darrell), 12 grandchildren/step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren/step-great-grandchildren, brother Arend (Djoke), nephew Theo (Jing-Chiu) and their daughter Sierra.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
