In loving memory ~
Carrie Anne Denyer (Nesbitt) was born in Kimberley, BC to Christopher and Christina. She passed away peacefully in Salmon Arm, BC with family by her side. Those waiting with open arms in heaven were her parents, brothers (Christopher & Kip) and in-laws along with some very special friends.
Through her 85 years, Mom had a positive impact on many lives. She was a caregiver right from the start, helping the family with six rambunctious younger siblings. It was only fitting that she chose a career as a nurse and graduated from Gault School of Nursing. Afterwards she accepted a position in Nelson, BC where she met her husband of close to 63 years, Frederick.
Carrie was proud of being a nurse and spent most of her career at Chilliwack General Hospital where she met many lasting friends whom she cherished. To many, she was Carrie, a sister, an auntie and a friend, but to those who loved her the most, she was our Wife, Mom, Nana, and Gi Gi Nana. She raised two treasured girls. She was an avid traveler, usually to warm destinations (who could blame her) and would plan her travels around her garden schedule. In the Spring & Summer, Carrie could always be found outside in her beautiful gardens, often drinking wine and visiting with friends. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching and sewing in the winter months. She was a founding member of the Mount Cheam PROBUS Club and volunteered at both Friends of the Theater and a local elementary school where she helped children find their love of reading. Mom was an avid learner, so it didn't surprise us when she went back to College in her 70's to advance her skills in photography and technology.
Our mom died a loved and cherished lady. She was surrounded by loved ones near and far. Those left missing her include Fred, Tracy (Chuck), Leanne (Derek), Megan (Brandon), Craig (Erica), Jordan (Julie), Mikaela, Juan, Adrian & Sawyer in addition to her siblings, many nieces & nephews, cousin and close friends.
Mom requested no service but an "Afternoon Garden Tea" for family and friends once the weather warms and the flowers blossom.
We would like to thank friends and neighbors in Chilliwack that kept an eye on our parents for many years, making it possible for them to live out their dream of staying in their home as long as possible. Additionally, thanks go to Dr. Imoleli, the nurses and staff at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their exceptional care of our mom in her final days.
