BARTEL, Elfriede
September 15, 1929 - March 6, 2006
Elfriede Bartel passed away March 6th at the Eden Care Home in Chilliwack. Elfriede was born in Stuttgart, Germany to Christian and Martha Schmid. She was the only daughter, having three older and one younger brother. After the war she trained as a kindergarten teacher. In 1955 she immigrated to Canada to marry her life partner, Walter Bartel. Together they enjoyed fifty years of married life. Together with Walter they dairy farmed on Whelpton Road for 28 years. Survived by Walter, children Gabriela (Art) Unruh, Markus and Sandy Bartel and Thomas Bartel. Two grandchildren, Joel and Hanna Unruh. One brother, Gotthold Schmid of Germany and many nieces and nephews. Mom loved well and was loved by all who's lives she touched. Funeral Services were held March 9th at the Harrison Gospel Chapel.
