Irene Mable Legacy, resident of Agassiz, B.C., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Chilliwack General Hospital, at the age of 90 years.
Irene was born August 5, 1932, in Killam, AB, the ninth of nine children born to Frank and Dora Klein. Early in life, Irene moved with her parents out of Alberta and lived most of her days in British Columbia.
Irene was described by one of her grandchildren as "beautiful inside and out." She cherished close ties with her large extended family, and faithfully recognized holidays, birthdays, and special occasions with cards and gifts, even into her later years. With a generous spirit and a kind heart, Irene was always glad to see others and built many lasting friendships.
Irene is survived by her husband Robert Legacy; children Colin (Angela) Luscombe, and Blair Luscombe (Joelle Maycock); grandchildren: Victoria (Matt), Emily, Jonathan, Christopher, Jane, Aaron, and great-grandchildren: Josiah, Grace, Noah, and Ilias. Irene is also survived by her oldest sister Anna "Ann" Fogg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members.
Irene was predeceased by her parents Frank and Dora Klein; sisters: Alice Fisher, Mary Klein, and Theadora "Teddi" Stevenson; brothers: Hubert Klein, Bernard Klein, Art Klein, and Richard "Dick" Klein; and her former husband Stanley Luscombe (father of her children Colin and Blair Luscombe).
Irene will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Chilliwack General Hospital for their care and compassion during their mom's final days.
Details regarding a memorial celebration for Irene will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
