In Loving Memory ~

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear Mom, Oma, and Great-Oma, on Christmas Eve at the age of 93.

Jean was born in Linschoten, The Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada in 1950. In 1951 she married John Hoogendoorn, whom she had dated from the age of 15.

They were married for 66 years, and together they farmed in Agassiz for many years.

Jean is predeceased by her husband John, beloved son David, grandson Travis, six sisters and two brothers.

Left to remember her with love are daughters Anne (Mike) Lanting, Coby Hoogendoorn, Audrey (Norman) Thom, and daughter-in-law Maxine Hoogendoorn, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the medical staff of the 5th Floor South at Chilliwack General Hospital and The Bradley Centre for their excellent care of Mom. We thank all those friends and relatives who visited Mom over the last few months of her hospitalization, as well as Jane Klody and the staff of Agassiz Senior Living.

Special thanks to Pastor Jay Crossen for his kindness and caring to Mom over the last five years. Rest in Peace Mom.

"O Lord, support us all the day long of this troublous life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, the busy world is hushed, the fever of life is over and our work is done; then Lord, in thy mercy, grant us safe lodging, a holy rest and peace at the last." ~ John Henry Newman

The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate Mom's life in May 2024, details will be announced later.
