In loving memory ~
It is with deepest sorrow and broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mary Gray who left us June 8 at the age of 89, and is now with her parents Gordon and Anna Rawlek and brother Peter. Mary passed peacefully in the company of her daughters Cheryl and Patty.
Mary was the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants born in Rycroft Alberta, and was raised in the farmlands of Agassiz BC Canada. As a family outing we would often take my mum for drives to where she grew up so she could reflect on her childhood, see the barn that still stands, and reminisce about her teenage years and weekend dances at the community hall. I loved hearing her stories and seeing her eyes light up as she vividly remembered and shared these stories with us.
In her retirement years Mary discovered her passion for travelling and meeting new people, and enjoyed her time in Memphis to visit Elvis's Graceland, Singapore and Perth Australia, places a farm girl only dreamed about visiting. Mary will be remembered for her kindness and compassion towards all, willingness to easily forgive, and her love for all animals especially cats and dogs. She will also be remembered for her long membership of 47 years supporting a cause near and dear to her heart, AA, where she helped and mentored many victims of alcoholism.
Mary was mother to Cheryl, Peter, Patty and Billy, mother-in-law to Mark and Donna, and Baba to Blake, Eric, Illi and Han. Our beloved mum Mary will be forever remembered, forever loved, and forever missed.
At my mum's request the family will not be holding services.
Love and cherish your mums for they are so very precious.
Many thanks to the staff of Bradley Centre and Heritage for their kind and compassionate care of our mother.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hendersonsfunerals.com for the GRAY family.
