Dear Editor:

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. ~Thornton Wilder

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! To all the wonderful people for making my surprise 90th birthday so special.

Amazing, that my daughter Rose Tustian made it possible to give me a wonderful milestone birthday party during this pandemic. Rose, you are such a blessing to me.

Thank you to my Agassiz/Harrison Hot Springs community, family, friends and many loved ones overseas for the over 160 birthday cards. The good wishes and treasured memories shared will forever be cherished.

To my TOPS pals and Riverside Church family, your attendance was enthusiastic and heartwarming. I am grateful for your support and encouragement during these difficult times.

Steve “Elvis” Elliott, for his amazing balcony concert that had us seniors on our feet and swaying to the music…..WOW!

The day was made complete when Gord Atti gifted me my favourite dish from his award-winning Chilliwack restaurant, Shandhar Hut. Such a treat during our COVID-19 lockdown!

A special shout out to my new friend Adam from the Observer for elevating my special day and putting my picture on the front page! Another treasured first after 90 years!

Finally, I would like to thank Ken, Cindy and Jane of Park Place Residence for all the behind the scenes work they did in order to make this milestone day a success for all my neighbours to enjoy.

It was an unforgettable day!

Grace Storteboom

90 years young and grateful to still be conscious of treasured moments.
