Chilliwack’s Jordyn Huitema and the Canadian national women’s soccer squad lost one and tied one in friendly matches against Mexico.
Huitema and her teammates gathered for a training camp in Mexico, and while the defending Olympic champs were there, they played at Estadio Azulgrana in Mexico City.
Huitema collected her goal in the first game, on Nov. 27, scoring in the 86th minute of a game that Canada lost by a 2-1 count.
Huitema and crew were held off the scoresheet entirely in a Nov. 30 rematch that ended in a 0-0 draw. Huitema subbed in at the 62 minute mark.
Canada is 2-1-1 since the 2021 Summer Olympics, having beaten New Zealand 5-1 and 1-0 in October.
