Some of the best women’s basketball players in the country will be competing in Abbotsford next month and ticket packages are now on sale for the 2024 Canada West Basketball Championships.

The event runs from Feb. 21 to 25 inside the University of the Fraser Valley Athletic Centre.

The top 12 teams during the regular season will qualify for the event, with the top four seeds receiving an automatic bye into the quarterfinals. Both championships will begin with play-in games on Feb. 21, followed by quarterfinal action on Feb. 22 and semifinal play on Feb. 24. The tournaments will conclude with medal round games on Feb. 25.

Opening day sees the fifth seed take on the 12th seed at 1 p.m., eight vs. nine at 3 p.m., six vs. 11 at 6 p.m. and seven vs. 10 at 8 p.m. The winners of those games will then advance to take on one of the top four teams on day two.

The Cascades women’s basketball team currently sits in third place in Canada West and are expected to be one of the top contending teams at the tournament.

This marks the first time that Canada West has split the men’s and women’s tournaments, with the men’s championships occurring in Manitoba from Feb. 21 to 25.
