Residents mobilize to halt quarry development

News that an application was sent to the province proposing a construction aggregate quarry on District of Kent land between Agassiz and Harrison ignited a movement amongst locals to stop the project from going any further.

News that an application was sent to the province proposing a construction aggregate quarry on District of Kent land between Agassiz and Harrison ignited a movement amongst locals to stop the project from going any further.

At least 200 locals filed into the Harrison Memorial Hall Tuesday night, filling every seat until some were left standing. Harrison resident MichieVidal, one of the key organizers of the meeting, took the stage to outline some main concerns around impacts on the environment, public health and the economy.
