The Agassiz Fire Department is continuing their annual food drive in a different way this year.

In a video announcement released on Thursday, Nov. 26, Ian Wilson of the AFD goes over the details of the new protocols this year. The firefighters will continue to go door to door on the night of Thursday, Dec. 3, collecting non-perishable food or other essential items. The items are to be left outside the doors in a box or bag labeled “fire department” to limit potential COVID-19 exposure.

There will also be a drive-thru drop-off system at the fire hall, located at 7652 Industrial Way. There will be a table where the boxes or bags can be dropped off.

“Thank you for your donations, for your time and understanding, and leave you with a reminder that while our community may be apart, we can still do great things together,” Wilson said in conclusion.

Last year, the AFD raised about $3,400 and gathered nearly 5,000 pounds of food for Agassiz-Harrison Community Services.
