A slight bump pushed community COVID-19 cases up in Agassiz-Harrison, according to the latest data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.
The BCCDC reported five new cases of COVID-19 in the local health area between April 10 and 16. Cases in Agassiz-Harrison have been below five for the past five weeks. During this week in 2021, there were 20 cases of COVID-19 in the local health area, which was part of a small series of spikes during a five-week period.
There have been 205 cases of COVID-19 in Agassiz-Harrison so far this year.
There are no outbreaks or exposure events in Agassiz-Harrison schools as of April 25. There are 60 cases of COVID-19 reported in an outbreak among inmates at Mountain Institution in Agassiz. One inmate is considered recovered at this time.
Vaccination rates climb slowly and intermittently during the past few months in Agassiz-Harrison. Here is how they stand as of April 18 (changes highlighted in bold):
Ages 5-11: 38 per cent partially vaccinated
Ages 5 +: 79 per cent fully vaccinated (84 per cent partially vaccinated)
Ages 12 to 17: 68 per cent fully vaccinated (73 per cent partially vaccinated)
Ages 18+: 85 per cent fully vaccinated (88 per cent partially vaccinated)
Ages 18 to 49: 78 per cent fully vaccinated (83 per cent partially vaccinated)
Ages 50+ : 89 per cent fully vaccinated (91 per cent partially vaccinated)
Age 50+ with booster: 71 per cent
Ages 70+ with booster: 81 per cent
